This body of work from 1988
dealt with my fascination with the recurring light forms found
within my bedroom of the house in which I was living in at the
time.
Working with the old notion of images as
“mirrors” as opposed to “windows” I wanted
to try to reflect an emotional sparsity and static coldness contrasted
with the warmth and fluidity of the changing light forms which
ritually visited the room. I also wanted to reflect feelings of
entrapment and containment whether physical or emotional.
The exhibition comprised a sequence of 35
images. The original images were made on Kodak Kodachrome transparency
film and then, to give the rich warmth that I needed, printed
on Cibachrome photographic paper, which unfortunately is no longer
in production.
